For many visitors, this was their first chance to explore Stapleford Doggy Day Care’s unique setting — a spacious, secure paddock paired with a shaded woodland area, perfect for dogs to run, sniff and socialise safely.
The event wasn’t just about the competition. It gave families and dog lovers a memorable day out with:

- Artisan and canine-themed shopping stalls
- Raffle prizes raising funds for Harvey’s Army Charity
- Games and activities for children and grown-ups alike
The sun was shining, tails were wagging, and the scent of fresh pizza and excitement filled the air as Stapleford Doggy Day Care hosted its first-ever Dog Show & Family Day Out on Saturday 8th June 2025 at its countryside venue in Stapleford, Leicestershire.
Welcoming over 500 visitors and 147 dogs of all breeds, sizes and stories, the event turned into a vibrant celebration of dogs, local businesses, and community spirit. Held in the Stapleford Doggy Day Care, on Stapleford Estate, just a short drive from Melton Mowbray and Oakham, the day proved to be more than just a dog show — it was a community event to remember.
Dog Show Classes – 57 Breeds & Plenty of Rosettes
Held during the cooler morning hours, nine dog classes showcased everything from the Waggiest Tail to Best Rescue Dog. With 57 different breeds represented and participants travelling from as far as Norfolk, Stoke-on-Trent, and Newark, the show ring was buzzing with energy and heart-warming stories.
It wasn’t just local families who joined the fun — many came to compete, share their love for their dogs, support a good cause and enjoy a wonderful day out!
Food & Refreshments – A Feast for All
Food lovers were spoilt for choice. Crowd favourites included:
- Amo La Pizza – fresh, hot wood-fired pizzas straight from the oven
- Ange’s Homemade Dishes – hearty, comforting meals that kept everyone fuelled
- Ice Cream for Dogs & Humans – because everyone deserves a treat on a sunny day!
Market Stalls – Local Shopping with a Canine Twist
Visitors browsed a variety of wonderful stalls offering:
- Dog Drying Coats – Ruff & Tumble
- Natural dog treats & accessories
- Enrichment canine toys
- Canine Bedding
- Other stands offered handmade jewellery and local crafts.
Each vendor reported a busy day, with dog lovers eager to support small businesses.

Visitors had the chance to meet the Stapleford Doggy Day Care team, including:
Katy – Day Care Specialist
Warm, knowledgeable, and incredibly passionate, Katy spent the day chatting with owners about their dogs’ behaviour, day care routines, and how the free half-day trial works. Many signed up on the spot after seeing the facilities first-hand.
Kirsti – Experienced Dog Groomer
With calm reassurance and expert tips, Kirsti explained how she works with nervous dogs to help them feel comfortable during grooming. Several guests booked in grooming appointments after their chats — impressed by both her skill and the tranquil grooming space on-site.
Lady Gretton – Stapleford Estate Events Co-ordinator
Passionate about building the Estate Events business, Sarah welcomed all the excited guests and vendors giving them a background to the estate and the Doggy Day Care business. People were intrigued to find out more about this little doggy paradise and all the other exciting things happening across Stapleford Estate, like Dog Walking Paddocks, Private Events Venue Hire, Fun Rides and Fun Runs.
